B2B Exhibitions to provide a major impetus to India’s economic growth over the coming six months

With the announcement of the re-opening of b2b exhibitions, the Indian Exhibitions industry is all set for a restart after a hiatus of 6 months. As part of Unlock 5.0 Guidelines, The Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted the organization of B2B exhibitions from 15 October 2020 and has requested the Ministry of Commerce to suggest SOPs for organizing safe and secure trade shows.“The restart of B2B Exhibitions from October 15, 2020, is welcome news for the exhibitions industry in India. We thank the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce for their timely decision.


Exhibitions are economic multipliers for economies the world over and the restart of the exhibition will result in kickstart of the Indian economy. The Indian SMEs and corporates look forward to trade shows which will catalyze both commerce and investments in India and strengthen Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan,” stated Mr. S. Balasubramanian, President, IEIA.

The Indian exhibitions industry under IEIA stands committed to delivering quality exhibitions and awaits the recommended Standard Operating Procedures by the Department of Commerce, Government of India,” added Mr. S. Balasubramanian.


The announcement defines the success of continuous efforts, initiatives, and advocacy engagements with Govt. by the IEIA team and industry members during the entire lockdown period. The period from October to March is generally known as the peak season of Exhibitions and the restart announcement during this period shall pave the way for organizing exhibitions during this season. Many industry players had been anxiously awaiting Government guidelines and will soon announce their exhibition schedules.


The Indian Exhibition Industry Association is India’s representative association of Exhibitions since 2006 and has been at the forefront of undertaking numerous initiatives to support the members and the industry since the beginning of the lockdown in India. IEIA had been engaging with the Govt at various levels for the restart of exhibitions.
